Equalism is the philosophy that all people are created equal. It is a philosophy that has no race or gender bias. Equalism goes beyond feminism and affirmative action in that it does not single anyone out based on their gender or the color of their skin. While feminism and affirmative action can take on a feeling of reverse discrimination equalism treats everyone the same.
In a perfect society there would not be a need to give a title to this philosophy. In a perfect society everyone would already be seen as equals. There would not have been a need for governments to step in and say that x% of jobs need to go to minorities. In a perfect society jobs would go to whoever was the most qualified.
Unfortunately, we do not live in a perfect society where people can be expected to treat everyone equally. As such we do need to put labels on different philosophies. I feel that instead of a government stepping in and ordering that x% of jobs go to minorities they should step in and regulate the hiring process. If every person applied to a job using a given number there could be no basis for discrimination on the application since they would not know the race or gender of the applicant. Everyone would have an equal chance and the best qualifications could be hired for the job.
I considered myself to be an "equalist" long before I knew that there was a term for this philosophy. Our founding fathers set the tone of our country to follow a philosophy of equalism when they set forth that "all men are created equal." Society would be wise to follow that creed.
