Assessing instant coffee

The warm brown liquid slipping gracefully down your throat. The bitter taste a sharp prod for the lethargicness you are suffering from. The rich aromatic smell that tantalizes your senses. The perfect cup of coffee.

With all the instant coffees available, the quest to find the best brew is daunting and time consuming, but a journey that is well worth the ride.

So many different factors contribute to that perfect brew. Things like price, colour, consistency, the size of the tin, the flavour. So how to choose the best one?

I choose the middle range price, preferring roasted beans, that are a strong, rich colour. I like big granules that dissolve completely without leaving the floaties on top. A stronger brew, no sugar, a blissful flavour that is like swallowing satin.

But after having instant coffee for a while, I decided to try the peculated coffee. The smell of it brewing within the house, making it seem homely, the dark liquid dripping daintily into the waiting jug. The watering of the mouth in anticipating of that first delicious mouthful.

There is an art to brewing the perfect cup, not too strong, not to weak, a perfect experience that you share with a friend in the afternoon, wake up to in the morning, that stays in your life longer than the usual male.

Nothing is as good as a espresso coffee with the most expensive beans on the market, but, if you're like me and don't have the time or funds to travel the world in search of the best coffee, bring on the Nescafe Blend 43, the only instant coffee worth buying.
