What you can do to promote women's rights

Whether we like it or not, money makes the world go round. Money influences social changes and goals. So make your money represent your ideals, beliefs and causes.

If you want to promote women's rights support businesses who believe in that cause. Read mission statements. Check employment statistics to show if women are prompted under equal standards as men. Spend your money with the companies that promote your values. Let them know that is why you use their companies and tell their competitors as well. Send emails. Write letters. Sing songs. Do anything that makes your voice heard.

Vote. Legislation matters and if women want their voices heard they need to actively participate. Sadly women are still way at the back of the line where politics is concerned. Become politically active. Be informed. Attend meetings. Run for office. Know your congress people personally. Read the newspaper. Challenge biased reporting. Take time to learn the facts. Change begins with one person taking a stand for what they believe in. Be that one person every time you can.

Include your friends. Anything is more fun when your friends are on the same band wagon. Write letters to the editor. Send emails with the information you gather. Do it after your bonco party.

Don't be a hater. As often as possible, leave gender aside. Truly it shouldn't be a man against woman fight. We should stand together for humanity and fight stereotypes. Advocate that promotions go to the best person for the job. Hate accomplishes nothing but more hate.

Educate others. Begin in preschool by teaching children the only boundaries they have to prevent them from reaching their goals are fences. Teach them not to put those fences up themselves. That "can do" attitude is some thing that can be taught, reinforced and encouraged. If some one else puts a block up we teach them to climb over, go around, or negotiate through it. Take it back to the basics and keep it simple.

Be a good example. No matter your gender you can be an example for the promotion of human rights. You can treat others with dignity. You can support good advertising that doesn't promote negative stereotypes. You can be verbal and give praise for those who are busy doing great things for all people.

Actions always speak much louder than words. So let your spending habits and your actions speak of equality. Encourage human rights.
