Interesting name for a title. It seems that us humans are always looking for an easy "How to" guide for those things in life which we find difficult or daunting. "How to Build a Backyard Coy Pond" or "How to Pick Out a Honduran Cigar" are great examples in the "How to" genre that are both helpful and appropriate. "How to Get Your Boyfriend to Propose to You", on the other hand, is one that strikes this writer as, to put it bluntly, idiotic. You shouldn't have to "get" your boyfriend to propose to you just as you should not have to "get" him to shave before work in the morning (unless he is of course a lumberjack or a mountain man in which case you should not have to "get" him to cut down trees or spend three months in the Yukon trapping beavers). Matrimony should be a natural progression that both parties are in accordance with-a fait complet from the moment that you lay eyes on one another. Sure this may sound helplessly romantic and a little trite but isn't romance the one place in life were we are allowed-in fact behooved-to be... romantic? If not then what do we have but "just settling". Just settling for that one person that will take you. It's akin to walking in to a grocery store, finding that your favorite cereal has been discontinued, and purchasing a bag of Alpo because it is comes in a bag, is dry and crunchy and is able to be put in to a bowl and have milk poured over it. Sure it has all the physical characteristics of Muselix or Alpha-Bits but in the end, it is still just dog food. So here is my "How to" advice: If you want to get married and have been in a long term relationship and you are the only person in said long term relationship that wants to get married-get out now.
