Withdrawing your child from school permanently and legally

I have decided to home school my children. I researched everything I needed to know about homeschooling, especially the law in my state before I permanently withdrew my children.

My advice to any parent who is thinking about withdrawing their children from the public school system permanently is to first educate your self on the law for your state. Do not ask the school or school board because they will misinform you. I do not believe they do this on purpose, but because they honestly do not know and give you information they feel is right without looking up the law themselves. You can go to this link to find out the laws in your state for homeschooling:

I am thankful to God that He gave me the insight to research the law in my state before I withdrew my son because at the school they tried to give me a hard time.

When I walked into the office and advised them that I wanted to withdraw my son from the school permanently, they automatically asked me what school would he be transferring to. I then let them know that he would not be transferring to another school, but instead would be home schooled. The office personnel tried to tell me that I was not allowed to withdraw my child in this manner and there were procedures I had to follow. That is when I recited the law to them. After giving me blank stares for about a minute, they took my driver's license to the principle. The principle then came to stare at me before she started calling the office personnel into her office one by one. I saw them go in, then come back out and look stuff up in the computer, file cabinets, other rooms, etc... It was kind of funny to watch. Then after they looked up the law for themselves and I guess had the information they needed, they gave me the proper forms to fill out and then gave me my son. Permanently.
