Assessing instant coffee

I am not a coffee snob, but I do prefer the freshly brewed taste of real coffee. I say real because something goes awry in the instant coffee process. Try as they may, the coffee manufacturers cannot duplicate the taste of freshly brewed in their instant versions.

I have tried them all and have been unsuccessful in getting a really good cup of coffee. I like my coffee strong, but when you make the instant variety, it all just tastes bitter. Different companies claim their versions are the same as the brewed. I beg to disagree.

Folger's Instant Coffee is the closest to the original brewed but still lacks alot in the taste department. It is full bodied but if you want it strong it still can't measure up.

Maxwell House is supposedly good to the last drop. I believe the first drop is what you are looking for but it just isn't there. This company has been around for as long as I can remember and their brewed version is very good. They should just stick to ground coffee.

Taster's Choice touted their good cup of coffee when they went on the market several years ago. I tried it hoping there would be some good flavor going on there, but was disappointed.

Along came the one cup bags and I thought hey, they may have something here. Wrong! Just the same instant taste caged in a tiny pouch. It is not easy to know exactly how long to dunk the bag in your cup for the taste you desire.

Thanks but, no thanks to instant coffee. Get that coffee maker out and brew up some of the real thing or I will just drink tea!
