Great gifts for the gardening mom

Mothers who like to make things grow will take pleasure in gifts that encourage that hobby. Obviously there are many different gifts that you can get mom. Use your imagination and think about what would best suit her. What is her favorite thing to grow? What does she like? Pick something that you hope she will treasure for years to come.

Give them a piece of an existing plant that you have. I have dug up and given and been given many plants from friends and family over the years. It means a lot to be able to say that someone else nurtured and loved the original plant and cared enough to share its beauty with you.

Hanging baskets are a great addition to any porch or outdoor area. They are easy to take of for the most part, and are generally inexpensive. You can get many varieties of hanging baskets and they make terrific gifts. You might also want to check into getting her some flowerpots, plant holders or even lawn fixtures. There's more to gardening than just buying plants. Snoop around and see what she might need.

Give a gift basket full of miscellaneous gardening gifts. You can give a watering can, gloves, and packets of seeds, sheers, a mini shovel, an apron, potting soil, plant food or even a small potted plant. When it comes to gift bags, you can get away with about anything, just follow the theme. Be creative. That is what will set your gift apart from all the others mom will get.

If mom likes to read, maybe you can invest in a magazine subscription. There are many home and gardening magazines out there that might appeal to mom's tastes. They might offer tips or a step by step guide to working in the garden, or an almanac. You could also get mom a book on gardening, or even a movie. Another great idea, along these lines, is a gift card for a popular gardening place. Let her pick out what she wants, then you know for sure that she loves the gift.

Give from the heart. Use your head. You are thinking about mom and that is all that matters. Put her first today, and every day. That's the least you can do, when you think of all she has done for you over the years.
