Not only is it a matter of what insurance company it is also a matter of whether or not you use a broker. I have had a few years experience with both and I would have to say when it comes down to it having an insurance broker is 100 times better then just dealing with an insurance company. Reason I say this is in 2003 I was insured with TD Auto insurance. In August of 03 I wrote off the car I had recently taken out a HUGE loan on not 9 months prior. Now I will say TD was very quick and had an adjuster out the same day and within 3 weeks of the accident I had received my check. However, within these 3 weeks a few phones calls had to be placed and every single time I called it was someone in a call center. I had to re-explain everything every single time, and it was just inconvenient. I then had a big issue with TD when I went to insure my new car which resulted in myself finding another insurance company. I asked my mom of course who she had been dealing with and she pointed me to her broker. I absolutely loved dealing with my broker. I was with them for 3 years and every single time I dealt with my broker every thing went so smoothly, no reiterating the situation again and again as she already knew.The hands on, professional care of having a broker makes insurance issues less of a stress on you. I would definitely recommend an insurance broker as being the best way to go. They do the shopping around for you, and are your foremost contact when it comes to dealing with insurance companies, this means less stress for you.
