My daughter is PDD autistic, ADHD, and mentally slow. Yes the school system needs to change on how they are going to educate the special needs child. Having to put them in a regular class just to justify the no child left behind act is hurting them more than helping them. They need a stable environment. Yes they need interaction with other children so they can socialize, but to educate them they need to be in a class room with a trained teacher and in small groups. That is the key right there most special needs children do not like to be in large groups with a lot of distractions and noise. It makes them agitated. They are unable to learn if they are upset. I have had a time with my daughters school and her learning. Her teachers are great. She has a IEP that they must follow. She has not passed a grade yet, but they move her up so she can stay with her piers. The federal government need to come up with a new law regarding special needs children and adults. We don't know what is going to happen once our children grow up. What is out there for them.
