How to start a bakery or a cookie business

There is certainly a trend when it comes to what people like to eat. That includes cookies as well.

Instead of making too many varieties of cookies, it would be wiser to cut back on the varieties and bake the ones you do decide to sell with quality ingredients.

Choose ingredients that lend themselves to good health. In other words, cut back on the unhealthy additives like fat and sugars and make healthier substitutes. Possibly a non-hydrogenated oil and one of the better sugar substitutes would be a great place to start.

Be sure to make it well known what ingredients you are using in the baking of your cookies. Keeping customers informed will build trust.

Also, most people realize that it will cost more for a healthy, well thought out product and will be more than happy to pay for the quality.

Decide from the very beginning that you will not be baking any products with nuts in them. That way it eliminates the need to always be aware of the dangers involved when dealing with nut allergies.

When you first open your doors, be sure to cut up some samples for your customers to try. This can be a very good selling tool.

The most important ingredient in any business is customer service. Get to know your customers by name and show that you appreciate their business.
