Adolphus Busch, born in Germany, On July 10, 1839 gained his fame, as the co-founder of "The Anheuser-Busch Company" in 1879. Originally, the company was named after his father n' law, Eberhard Anheuser, called "Anheuser and Company". Adolphus managed the company for many years, before becoming a partner.
Before entering the beer brewing industry, Adolphus served as a Colonel in the Army, during the Civil War. He manufactured soap and candles. Married Lilly Anheuser and fathered eight children.
During his beer brewing todays, he invented a way to pasteurize the beer, so it would last longer. He invented "ice houses" and refrigerator freight cars so the beer could be transported to other areas of the country. His biggest accomplishment, was BUDWEISER, the "king of beers."
He has a hall named after him at Harvard University and another at St. Louis University. He donated a good amount of funds for educational purposes through out his life.
Busch Gardens, have you ever been to Sea World or the amusement park called Busch gardens? Anheuser-Busch also has an entertainment division now.
Adolphus Busch, lead an accomplished life before he died on October 10, 1913 at the age of 74.
