Good teenage summer jobs

School is out for the year, summer vacation time is here! Nothing to do but sit by the pool, watch television, and borrow money from Mom and Dad to pay for your summer expenses, right? WRONG! There are many job opportunities perfect for teenagers during their summer vacation. Having a job during their summer vacation does more than just earn them some spending money; a summer job can help teach a teenager responsibility and help prepare them for the "real world." It can also help them build confidence and self-esteem, and even help pay for their next year's school wardrobe.

So what sort of jobs are available for teenagers on summer vacation? One excellent source of summer employment for teenagers - that will definitely teach responsibility - is babysitting. This can greatly help out parents of young children that cannot be at home with them during the summer. With the rising costs of day care centers many parents cannot afford this expense during the summer vacation. They can hire teenagers that live in their area for half the cost of a day care center.

Another source of summer employment for teenagers is working in a local store or mall. They will have the benefit of working 20 or better hours a week and earning a very good income for their troubles. Most stores are very willing to give jobs to students on summer vacation. This allows them to ensure that they have enough personnel for the increased trade that the summer months bring.

Other options for summer employment would be working as a waitress or waiter in a local cafe, working in a local movie theater, or just about any local business. The benefits of students holding down a summer job are numerous. They are able to pay for some of their own activities and purchases. They are also much more prepared to enter the workforce when they get out of school. Students that have never had a summer or part-time job have no idea what the workforce is actually like. They are also taught to be responsible - both for their own money, and showing up at work on time, and all the responsibilities that go with holding down a job.
