There is one thing that children love to play with almost as much as play dough. It stretches, twists, bounces, and can even make copies of newspaper comics. Give up? It's silly putty. Here is a simple recipe for making this fun compound.

Ingredients: Elmer's glue; liquid starch; plastic bowl with a lid; food coloring; spoon

Instructions:
Use two parts glue and one part liquid starch.
Pour glue into a bowl.
Gradually add starch to glue, and mix.
If the mixture is still sticky, add a little more starch.
Add food coloring.
Cover with the lid and refrigerate overnight.

Now you can see why silly putty is still a wonderful creative project for kids. It's an easy recipe and fun to make. Try mixing a couple colors of food coloring together and see what great colors you can come up with.
