Through Ravens

I feel your hand on my shoulder
I couldn't be much colder
"Wake up" you tell me
"It's time to go"

I walk with you down Main Street
Sharp gravel 'neath my bare feet
Your breath stands still
"We've got a ways you know?"

Cars speed by with morning haste
My mind flies at a similar pace
I ask "can't we hurry,
why must we walk so slow?"

At the corner now, i look both ways
I'd never sacrifice these days
My lips quiver in waiting
"which way shall we go?"

To the right are angels shadows cast
The left is dark, no hope will last
"into the darkness, do not fret
at the end a light's aglow"

Blisters causing raw feet to bleed
Won't sway me from your noble lead
Through ravens and demons
As the hurt begins to grow

I see the end, it's not as bright
"Why have we come here this night,
answer me i pray?"
your pain slowly shows

Harshly you lift up your strong disguise
Blood-like tears flow from your eyes
I ask "why do you weep?"
The answer i still don't know

All too soon you disappeared
And why you left is never clear
So now i sit here
all alone

Waiting to feel your hand on my shoulder
It couldn't be much colder
"sleep" you'll tell me
It's time to go
