Countless people wake up every morning with jobs that seem more like a prison sentence. Maybe you are one of these people lacking the motivation to get out of bed, arriving at work late or calling in sick most mornings.
According to a survey conducted by Harris Interactive Inc, which is a leading market research firm; across America 45% of workers say they are satisfied or extremely satisfied with their jobs, 20% feel passionate about their jobs, 33% believe they have reached a dead end in their career and 21% are eager to change careers. (This survey was based on a nationwide sample of 7,718 American employees 18 years old and over)
According to research based on a survey of 25,000 British women employees,
www.personneltoday.com tells us that stress is contributing to a massive decline in job satisfaction for women. This decline has been going on for 15 years and is shown more in those working part-time.
If I told you that your attitude towards your job will determine where you will be in the near future what would you say? I bet some of you are saying "no way."
Although that dull job seems to be the last place on earth you'd like to be, maybe you could change your attitude if we were to change your views on the incentives that job is providing you with.
Whilst you may dream of having a better job elsewhere, it's essential to regard your present job as a key to a better future. It's a stepping-stone on your journey towards your goals. The way you handle this job will determine the momentum you will have in getting to your destiny.
These stepping stone truths for the job will help you:
A. Become a better employee at your present job.
B. Give you some basic principles that will help you on any job.
C. Change your perception towards that job.
TRUTHS
1. It provides a platform from which you can finance the next step towards your destiny.
One primary way to fund any goal is by getting a job. It may not be what you want to do, but at least it supplies you with finances, which can be utilized to purchase those things that will aid in the releasing of your potential. University and college students seem to have learned this vital lesson, and although they may not want to work as a porter or waitress for the rest of their lives, they don't mind as long as they can complete their studies.
2. It keeps you in the good ethic of work.
Sitting at home doing nothing and claiming welfare checks keeps any skills or potential locked up and untapped. Work on the other hand provides you with a means of respectfully earning an income and discovering your abilities to solve problems. Rest is not something to be enjoyed or to look forward to until energy is expended through work.
3. It keeps you from laziness and being unproductive.
Productivity has to do with the best use of time to provide a certain quality and quantity of service. It's not just the time you put in, but what you put in the time.
You are employed by any company to enhance its productivity. If a company has several lazy people in key positions of its workforce, that company is very likely to lose clients and fold up.
So when you learn to use time effectively to produce the right quality and quantity of service you are not merely increasing the worth of that company, you are increasing your own value because the greatest asset any company can have is you.
4. That job is developing your ability.
That job is developing abilities that will help you accomplish some of the future goals. Even if you hate the job you're still developing persistence by working every day.
