Today there are many jobs that are great for teenagers and teenagers are usually eager to work during the summer to make extra money for school clothes and activities, to do something in place of doing schoolwork, and to meet new and interesting people. Summer jobs for teenagers help to instill confidence and a sense of self-worth. Summer jobs can also give the teenager more of a basis for deciding his future career goals.

Summer jobs can be found at

* Organic farms

* Summer camps

* Fast food chains

Organic farms

Working on an organic farm is a good job for teenagers. It teaches about the environment, and about eating healthy food. Some of the jobs provide a wage and other jobs are volunteer positions that provide a stipend. The volunteer position that provides a stipend is probably the best way to go. This type of job since it is volunteer also teaches community service; and the stipend is as good or better than getting paid a wage. It will almost be like being at a summer camp and getting paid for it. The housing is usually provided along with the stipend and the meals are free. Sometimes you can also get educational credit for this type of position. The volunteer is called an intern.

The best way to find these positions is to go to Google and type in Organic Farms Opportunities. Add the state you want to work in. So you would type in Organic Farms Opportunities NY for New York State. Add MA for Massachusetts and TX for Texas, etc. Google will come up with a variety of offerings. Pick what looks best and click on it. Here are a few organic farm opportunities to get you started. You may not have to do a google search.

Summer camps

Another good summer job for teenagers is working at a summer camp. There are all types of summer camps. You can find these jobs sometimes in your local newspaper; or look for a book on summer camps in your school library or public library. You will probably find a book with all the summer camps in your country or state listed.

Once you find a good book on summer camps, then check out the type of camp your teen would like to work at. Apply early in the year for these positions.

A summer camp job is like going to summer camp and getting paid for it. Summer camp jobs would be great for students planning to become teachers, counselors, swimming instructors, and athletic directors.

The fast food chains

Other good places for teens to work are the fast food chains such as Wendy's, Burger King, McDonalds, and KFC. If your teen is interested in cooking and the food trade, this is a good position. He will also learn about customer service, cashiering, cleaning, and preparing food.

Volunteer work opportunities

There are also many opportunities right in your local area for volunteer work that you can find in the social services area of your local phone book. Your local newspaper will usually list available volunteer opportunities also. If you can't find anything this way, just pick a place where you would like to work and call them to see if they have volunteer or paid positions. Volunteer work is good experience in doing community service work.

Volunteer work counts as work experience on your first resume. Volunteer work can even be a good reference when writing your college admission essay or filling out your college application. Volunteer work provides excellent experience for future work and college opportunities. Once-in-a-while a volunteer position may pay a stipend.
