I am younger than I look...
At least according to my Wii Fitness age on Wii Sports. Just the other day I actually got younger.
The Wii console is brilliant for its interactibility. Now the 38% of America's youth that border on obesity have a reason to put down the twinkies and cheesy poofs and drop a few pounds while playing video games!
The Nintendo Wii offers fun for the whole family. I never thought I would see my grandmother playing a Video game, turns out Wiis are a hit in Nursing Homes. Instead of lobbing a 14 pound bowling ball down a lane on Field trip Tuesdays, the elderly can strap on a fourteen ounce Wii remote and have the time of their life every day of the week.
My co-workers, who don't own a game system, now do. They love the interactive nature of the new system, and enjoy watching their kids work out some of their excessive energy or a normally "dumbing" object that is a TV.
Wii strong points:
1. Interactive - first main stream gaming system to highly integrate movement from the user.
2. Cheap(er) - less expensive then the other options currently available at $400 or $600 a pop.
3. Adaptability - can you say Zelda sword and shield, or how about a Wii remote gun.
Wii-eak points:
1. Resolution - 480p is not that incredible, perhaps how they keep it cheaper though (what's with the new HD cables they are selling for this system anyhow?)
2. Dashboard - so you've got a ton of potential for new Wii channels and interactive gaming communities, why not give us fans something more to play with?
3. Shooter Games - haven't enjoyed a good shooter game yet because the aim mechanism in the controller makes it near impossible to mimic the feel of a real gun.
All in all I give the console an 8 out of 10. Nice work Nintendo.
