The history of Starbucks

Starbucks is one of my favourite places to get coffee. My favourite drink from Starbucks is the Caramel Coffee Frappucino. It was my first ever coffee drink at the age of 20! Before that, all I ever had was black tea.

Starbucks has been around for more than 35 years. It is an American company and its first store opened in 1971, in Seattle's Pike Place Market. Its headquarters is still based in Seattle today.

My first visit to Starbucks was to their store in Sunway Pyramid shopping centre in Selangor, Malaysia. I was studying at Sunway College at the time and we always used to pop over to the Pyramid. Starbucks can be found in almost every shopping mall in the general KL area. So by that time, the company was about 30 years old and had made major progress in Asia. The started their worldwide expansion in 1996, and are still going strong.

In Australia, their presence isn't all that large. In Adelaide, the first Starbucks opened last year. This is quite late, considering there was already a Starbucks in Sydney six years ago, and even one in the little university town of Dunedin in New Zealand! I'm happy that it's finally here, though. I love the Caramel Frappucino!

Apart from drinks, other products include Tazo Tea and packaged coffee beans. They also sell music and mugs in their stores.

I do like Starbucks, I've come to expect quality and exceptional coffee whenever I visit their store. The service tends to be really friendly, too!
