Don't expect the funny scenes as promised in the trailer pass through the whole movie because you won't see much of it but the very beginning. I was planning to write my first review on Felicity Huffman's Transamerica until I watched this movie; it impacts me greater than the former, partly because I had just finished it few minutes ago, still fresh in mind. I never had a good impression towards Adam Sandler, thanks to all those short-fused characters like Mr. Deeds or The Waterboy, coupled with his on-screen buddy, Rob Schneider. But I almost cried during the scene where he tried to catch up his son, Ben to tell him that "family comes first", oh gosh, it touched my heart so bad. It was so intriguing and inspiring; in life, we often avoid all those hard time and ended up missing a lot of significant moments. We shall not forget that it's the sorrow that makes us cherish the joy. It's the pain that make us feel what it is to be relieved. Life is as much the moment we would rather forget as it is the moment we will always remember. It'd be plain without either of them. The film would probably end up more beautifully if it'd just stopped right there! But what a typical Hollywood film does besides everyone-lives-happily-ever-af ter, it's just a dream after all, and he wakes up to be a better man, I'd give this film four stars, with one lost to the happy ending. P/s: Despite her cameo role, Kate Beckinsale kills with her charm at whatever age.
