Can we compare E-Gold mode of Internet exchange transactions with PayPal based ones? E-Gold currency is completely backed by gold and provides the facilities of global transactions. On the other hand, PayPal is an e-mail based currency, linked with credit cards. So while E-Gold has 100 per cent backing of gold, PayPal uses plastic money like credit cards / debit cards.

Which one is better? PayPal provides the convenience of use, is used by over 100 million users and has full confidence of its members. On the other hand, E-Gold has a small international membership of about 3 million. One has to make outside trips to the bank etc. for enabling transactions in E-Gold.

E-Gold has the major benefit of global acceptability which is not the case with PaPal. PayPal fees are much higher than E-Gold. E-Gold currency has many benefits from the point of view of international investment. For example, with an E-Gold account one can invest with Please-invest.

E-Gold has also low transaction fees. For smaller amounts, E-Gold is the best. For example, on a transaction of $1, while PayPal fees will be about 33 cents, the same will be 5 cents with E-Gold
