Although vacationing is supposed to be a relaxing and exciting time it can sometime be stressful due to the financial burdens of traveling. As summer time roles around, families across the nation seek an affordable destination where their family can enjoy quality time together. While escaping the stresses of everyday life, it does not make sense to add to your stress by spreading yourself to thin financially. Therefore, I am going to suggest a few locations, some specific and some fairly general, to take your family this summer.

No matter what state you reside in the chances are that you live within a few hours of a lake or a river. Lakes and rivers can turn out to be exciting and affordable vacation get aways. Simply packing up the car and camping on the lake for a weekend won't set you back much at all. Maybe the cost of gas, any food you bring, and a small fee (sometimes as cheap as 15 bucks) for a spot to set up your tent. Lakes often offer several outdoor activities such as swimming, boating, fishing, kayaking, canoing, water skiing, volleyball, and several others depending on your location. Most families will choose to create their own fun without having to spend a lot of money. Camping as a family allows everyone to escape their daily routines. You no longer need to worry as much about appearance, and you can avoid the hustle and bustle of the city life. If tent camping is not your thing, most camp grounds rent out cabins for a reasonable price. Enjoying the warm summer weather, and taking the occasional dip in the water to cool off is definitely a peaceful escape.

I was born and raised in fairly large city in Oklahoma, therefore I always looked forward to getting away for awhile during the summers. My family frequented several camp grounds scattered throughout the state. Memories of my experiences while camping with my family still remain vivid. These vacations were not expensive or lavish, but they were a everything a vacation needed to be - relaxing, stress-free, and family oriented. Whether we chose to go canoing, fishing, swimming, or simply hang out by the camp fire holding sticks with sticky marshmallows attached to the ends sharing ghost stories, we were together, having fun. These are the types of experience that you cannot purchase. These are the types of experiences where families create their own fun without relying on expensive show tickets, or elaborate shopping trips. Camping is a excellent way to become closer to your family and enjoy a stress free environment.
