about how they best enjoy sexually gratifying themselves. Often teens try to figure it out, but with all the hormones just coursing through them, they do things they wouldn't if they really sat alone with themselves a moment or two.

This is why many girls, who tend to be more open with each other anyway, experiment with lesbianism. They're hormonal, curious and can use it as a way to attract male attention if they desire. It doesn't have to mean anything, and they understand that.

For guys, especially teens, experimenting tends to less open because of the ridicule they're likely to face if outed. So when a man jumps in, he tends to get both feet wet instead of leaving one anchored at shore.

So with everyone wanting to separate individuals into groups based on their sexual preference, it's understandable why some would have this question, though I do not get why people care. Along with race, gender and religion, we've now got the orientation question. Why? Do we ever hear the S&M question, the swingers question, or even the orgy question?

Everyone gets off in their own way for their own reasons. The how and why should be a person's own business. But if you really want to define yourself in such a limited capacity, simply ask: "Do I like sexual intercourse with people who are my own gender at the exclusion of those outside my gender, or is it the other way around?"

If your preference is for the former, then yeah, you're gay, but it certainly doesn't say anything else about you.
