Good teenage summer jobs

It's summer and for teenagers that means no school! Three glorious months of freedom! However, that freedom is often restricted somewhat by the need for money. In order for teenagers to do many of the things they want to do they need money and often by the time someone reaches the teenage years their parents have cut them off from their allowance. Therefore, many teenagers must spend their summer working. This can be a real drag if they do not like their job. But, a summer job does not have to be a death sentance, it is possible for teenagers to find a job that the will really enjoy.

In my opinion, lifeguarding is the best job a teenager can have. This job combines responsibility with the fun of being around a pool all day. As a bonus you get a great tan!

Lifeguarding includes a lot more than sitting in the lifeguard chair. A lifeguard is responsible for keeping the pool and facilities clean, which means scrubbing the pool down, picking up trash, emptying trash cans, cleaning the bathrooms and much more. The lifeguard must test the pool water to make sure it's got the right chemical balance. If it doesn't the pool can be shut down.
A lifeguard is responsible for the safety of everyone in the facility, whether they are in the water, on the deck or at the snack bar. Lifeguarding requires that you be alert at all times and be constantly on the watch for potential injuries.

Lifeguarding teaches a teenager responsibility. A lifeguard is responsible for people's lives if they drown, injure themselves while running on the deck or something else. They must be trained in CPR and first aid, which are valuable skills to know.

In addition to learning responsibility, lifeguarding is a lot of fun. Your job is at the pool, what better office could you ask for! During breaks you can swim in the pool hang out on the deck and get a tan, read, chill with friends. It is great! Lifeguarding is a job teenagers will love to go to!

If lifeguarding is not the job for you, there are other options. You can work in your favorite store. The bonus to working at a store is that you usually get a discount. Just be careful to not spend all your paycheck where you work. You can be a hostess, host or waiter at a restaraunt. A downside to working in a restaraunt is that the amount of money you make is often dependant upon tips, but working in a restaraunt can be a lot of fun because you are usually working with other people your own age.
