Developing project scope for project management

Consideration of scope in project management is about establishing and defining parameters of duties. The scope or parameters may include an entire construction of a building, or parts of the whole construction project. Dry wall subcontractors have their parameters of applying the dry wall application. Framers frame and managers manage.

Clear and well-defined parameters avoid confusion and conflict in a well managed project. Unclear parameters lead to chaos and turf wars between involved participants. It is the project manager's job to define and clarify the scope of the participant's authority and responsibility.

Too tight parameters can cause delays as one party says it isn't in their scope of duties and others say it isn't in their scope of responsibilities, so no one does the task. Oops, that was the project manager's fault. Now, go redefine their scope of responsibility, but remember to always give the appropriate scope of authority to match the scope of responsibility.
