Information about pertussis (whooping cough)

Awareness on this potentially disease is very lacking in fact until the new Pertussis booster vaccine (Tdap)was recently approved and recommended it was once again pushed to the back thought to be a disease of old, however for those who had lost a precious baby to it it was no secret, to those who had experienced months of terrible coughing hard enough to break ribs it was no secret.

I wish the current recommendation for everyone to get a booster including adolescents entering the 6th grade and especially all those that are going to be around a baby under 1 yr had been in place before my children were born. When you vaccinate yourself not only are you getting the very important protection you are also helping protect precious little ones.

Whooping Cough is contagious before symptoms even show so its vital that people are educated on the dangers of Whooping Cough and offered the protection of the new booster, Whooping Cough has been on the rise nationwide and the childhood vaccine wears off over time.
