Fired: How to handle it on your resume

Having been a resume writer for about 10 years, I can give this advice regarding how to handle the subject of being fired on your resume.

When writing a resume you never put anything negative on your resume. So if there is something negative you just omit it. You don't lie or conceal it. You just don't put it on your resume. And really there is no need to put anything about why you left a particular company on your resume. What goes on the resume as far as jobs goes, is the name of the place you worked at; your job title; city and state location, but no actual address or phone number; your duties and responsibilities.

You are looking for a new job and that is it. You only put your best qualifications on your resume. You never say why you left a job, be it being fired, or quitting because you hate the boss. This is not lying. It is just presenting your best qualifications.

Good Luck with that Resume!
