Adult acne: Understanding the differences from teen acne

Adult acne and teen acne look mostly the same, and have similar causes, but the unfortunately, adult acne occurs in far more inconvenient places.

CAUSES
It is clear that some folks tend to have acne more than others and that there is some kind of a genetic predisposition for it. However, the general cause of acne is when a bit of fat, piece of skin, or even some keratin gets stuck in a hair duct and clogs it up.

Some other issues that relate to acne's causes are a hormonal imbalance that makes the body produce too much oil, the hair duct just not working right, and sometimes even infection.

Additionally, acne will often spread if you try the home remedy of popping the pimples.

A final cause of acne is connected to poor personal hygiene habits. Allowing the body's oil to gather too much can easily cause a blockage in the hair duct, thus causing pimples.

DIFFERENCES
The causes of acne in adults and teens are pretty much the same. However, where it usually occurs is somewhat different. Most people find that teens get acne on the cheeks and the forehead. However, unfortunately, adults will often get it around the mouth and on the chin.

What is more, a man can sometimes experience an outbreak of pimples if he has given himself a close shave around the mouth with a dull razor. Instead of just cutting the hair, the dull razor rips the hair and clogs the hair duct. Then oil gathers in that duct and causes a whitehead.

In any case, whatever the differences between teen and adult acne, the solutions are quite similar. At home, you can be sure to wash your face gently about two to three times a day. Use good soap, like Cetaphil.

There are also plenty of good medicines out there that can control acne. Simply ask your doctor or pharmacist.
