Christian understanding of time

Time in and of itself is a human construction dedicated to the rationing and organizing of our lives here on earth. We often wonder "when" God is coming back, and "How much more time before the suffering on earth will end?" I imagine God's response is something like, "What's time?" God Himself is timeless, the Thing outside and above the universe (He would have to be to have originated it), and, in a sort of C.S. Lewis-esque attempt at understanding what that means, God is outside time the way the author is outside the time line of his novel. It takes years to write a book, but for the characters, were they to have the faculties of "real life" human beings, they would understand that one thing happens right after another. God does not see "days" or even minutes. For Him, every moment is every present. This may be something of what we mean when we say that "God knows what will happen." It is not that He has predetermined it, but that tomorrow is just as present for God as today is for us, and 1907 is just as present for God as 3007. As for the answer to "when the problem of evil will be solved, and the new world will come," I don't know in terms of time, but I do know that it will be no later than when the last person alive accepts the grace of God for He does not want anyone to perish. Our lives are the time line on a huge white canvas, and God cannot be put into our concept of time simply because God is the canvas.
