Ahhhh. . . makeup. The bittersweet world of makeup. As any other woman I'm sure we wish it wasn't necessary or at least we wish we weren't so dependent on it. I wear it I like how it can enhance my features. I especially enjoy mascara, who doesn't enjoy long batty lashes. I do enjoy my natural beauty, and love when I can look great without sitting in front of the mirror for more than 10 minutes. After being a makeup wearer for about 10 years it is a challenge to go without a little sprucing up.
It seems as though a little bit of a tan can eliminate the need to wear makeup. I'm glad it's summer. Here in WI we don't get that natural tan year round and no one likes to look drown out so bronzer seems to be a must. I tried a handful of times to go without makeup, but like my mom always said if you are going to be bitter or judgemental of those who have it on that's not the right way either.
I think makeup can be used correctly and abused. It should only take 5 minutes. and sometimes I wonder if I have actually done myself more damage than good by applying everything I have. I'm sure I have many a times. I think it looks best lightly enhancing mostly the eyes and lips. Once you've seen yourself all made up nicely it's hard to go without because it gives you this sense of security and a boost of confidence. So daily we are trying to achieve this and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
I would love to just be all natural, especially when there's ingredients in our makeup that we cannot even pronounce, it's not good for you. Now that summer is around the bend I'm looking forward to a nice little tan and less need for makeup. I also am finding more and more that true beauty is truly from within. If you feel beautiful, you are beautiful with or without your makeup. I think it's all about embracing that beauty within and letting that be what makes you secure rather than your makeup. When you are confident and feeling beautiful no matter the outside circumstances it really does show. I'm definetely not saying that I am never wearing makeup again because I do and I still will, but I do not want to depend on that for my security, confidence or happiness. It simply is not the way. I am guilty of it though (using makeup for security).
Have you ever noticed a change in your attitude with and without makeup? I recall in highschool when I first started wearing makeup (I was able to go on and off with it then) I was much more approachable without it it seems. Now I have a lttle baby girl and boy is she beautiful, I want to raise her to summon her beauty from within and let that shine and hope she doesn't have to be as dependent as I have become. Only time will tell that story. It saddens me somewhat also that God made us so beautifully and we don't feel as though we are beautiful enough without our tubes and crimpers. I wonder if it saddens him?

As much as I hate to admit it. I too look better with make up on. But, I go to work with just a little mascara, my eyebrows
