As a Christian my understanding of riches are those that you can help bring to Christ, and the love and friend ship that you gain from it makes one truly rich for those are the only works you can take with you. But sadly there is always a flip side to every coin and those that lead away from Christ take there works or their lies do follow them.In a way it is like a family tree with Christ at the top, as i consider the man that opened my eyes as a mentor above me in the tree, but do not place him before god,and Christ who are one.but this is a race that any one can fall out of as the teaching of the man that hid his talent had it taken away and given to another , so was he taken out of the tree of life and given to another.those are the works that follow you and your only true riches in heaven. But even if you are the last one in the family tree your still there and inherit the earth for all of eternity.
Now in this earth and time your friends are still your true riches next to Christ, who blesses you, when you are doing his work, he knows what you have need of and will add it on.it is only those that have illgotten gains from oppressing people with interest and stilling with lies and all the other ways a person makes money in a way that is contrary to gods law, and or even making it without having time for God
your money can then become an Idol,as you place it before god.
And further there is spiritual riches right now, such as peace of mind, and happiness
and wisdom from Gods word.It pays good to work for God
