Fired: How to handle it on your resume

You were fired from your last job, things are looking shaky but you need a job and its time to update the resume and move on.

Exactly what should you put on your resume? Once you have your skills and capabilities updated, you wonder how you should address the problem of being fired. No matter what your side of the story is, it looks damaging on the resume. The answer is; do not write it on the resume. There is no need.

You may send out a hundred resumes before you get two or three interviews. If you write the word 'fired' on your resume, you may lose the opportunity to get an interview. During the interview process you'll have the opportunity to tell your story your side of the story in person. Honest and straightforward answers are required during this dialog.

If you are asked to fill out an application before the interview, and the question is asked, you can make a comment that you will discuss it. Most interviewers are satisfied with that answer.

Many famous people have been fired from their job and go on with their careers in spite of it. You're in good company. The best advice I could give you, is to see it as a learning experience and sell your abilities to the interviewer. If you can show confidence and connect with the interviewer, you still have a great chance of getting the position.
