Here in the United States, the two major organizations that provide vehicle safety test ratings, also known as crash test ratings, are the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
You can look up the safety ratings for your car or any car by visiting their Internet sites listed below:

The safety ratings of vehicles are based on a scale of one to five stars, with five stars being the highest. The rating concept is simple; the more stars a vehicle has, the safer it is in an accident.
There are many sites on the Internet that cover the topic of vehicle safety test ratings. Visiting such sites and reading the information they present will give you a better understanding of how vehicle safety is determined.
One such site is Crashtest.com, which can be found at: http://www.crashtest.com/
Heliu m.com also has an excellent article on understanding vehicle safety tests. It can be found by using the Helium search box and entering: "What to look for when reading a crash test rating".
Lastly, if for some reason you do not have access to the Internet, you can obtain the safety test ratings of your car by simply calling your auto manufacturer. They will be glad to provide you with the safety test ratings of any of their vehicles.
