Is America obsessed with the word technology? Are we constantly craving the newest advancement that's advertised? Many may not think so, including our teen population. According to teenagers, you are not accepted unless you have a cell phone to flash around or an ipod that you could whip out in class. Hence the question, is America obsessed with technology?
Advertisement has a lot to do with getting kids' attention. They'll use music or dancing to sell ipods and give various different plans for a cell phone. Nobody ever shows the price. After seeing the commercials, kids will beg their parents to buy them the newest gadget on the market.
Cell phones will help if there is an emergency, if your car broke down or you had to call 911 for something, but the games and pictures distract kids form learning in school, and impairs their ability to communicate with peers.
Other types of technology enhance the laziness factor that haunts people. Big screen TVs' or fancy computers takes away form any physical activity that a body needs. Maybe this is why so many people are obese. Spending too much time being devoted to TV and computers will not just hurt your wallet, but it'll take away from the imagination and learning that life has to offer.
