There are various conditions which alter the perception of time, such as hypnosis, epilepsy, dyslexia etc. In some types of watches, a shaft tilts twice during its rotation around the bearing, which might be a jewel. In the first chapter of Jeremiah, Jeremiah sees a pot tilting away from the north (depending on the translation - Jeremiah 1:13) It represents disaster from the north.
The sense of timing that people might rely on is illustrated by the king of Medo-Persia in Esther 1. This king was so liberal that he let guests drink whatever wine they wanted. When his wife didn't obey him, he asked his advisors about whether it was a good time to divorce her. It's easy enough to confuse physical sensations of being carried along by a perception of time with a so-called prophetic "stream of time." This sort of imagery is reminiscent of the pebble games of Isaiah 57:6. "challaq nachal cheleq gowral" means something like "smooth torrents portion/territory/flattery using pebbles as lots for apportioning or retribution." This behaviour occurs after the death of somebody righteous (verses 1 and 2). Proverbs 1 shows that putting your lot in has to do with unjust accumulation of money by means of planning against the blood of others. Compare this with imagery of the universe that we live in, as in the following quote from Awake! magazine - "Astronomers Marc Postman and Tod Lauer believe something even bigger must lie beyond the constellation Orion, causing hundreds of galaxies, including ours, to stream in that direction like rafts on a sort of 'river in space.'" This sort of appeal to streams of luck is in contrast with the Bible's command not to move an ancient boundary stone. (Proverbs 23:10)
A question in my mind is about how society attempts to use mental illness to access (or keep track of?) secret spiritual understanding. Psalms 31:14, 15 says that we can put our times in God's hands. In fact, keeping a standardised routine going puts you in harm's way, as criminals use observation of people's daily habits to plan their attacks, according to a personal safety handbook co-authored by the police. Besides that, routines can be used as ceremonies to worship angels with (an angel is a messenger), but this takes a Christian away from Christ (Colossians 2:18, 19).
