Reading this may cause you to think about an issue that will shock you. Illegal immigration is a dangerous undertaking. People do die. People across the globe seek a better life and they look to developed countries with envious eyes. But those developed countries, such as America, Britain and European nations, have in place historically effective regulatory systems that has enabled economic prosperity and social wellbeing of its citizens.
These countries have border controls which breaching constitues a serious offence. Why is that? Why can't we just let everyone move where they want to? The answer is quite simple; were it the case that everyone were able to move about at will, nowhere would develop as we see many countries today, and the lowest common denominator would take effect at a social level, delineated by authoritarian powers that control various regions. It is, simply, a state from which we have developed.
So illegal immigration, unchecked, is a backward social step, not just for us, but for them.
I mentioned at the outset that illegal immigration was dangerous. People who, in practice, undertake these enterprises do so at particular personal risk and there have been thousands of recorded deaths - there are probably double that number of unrecorded deaths. The very fact of the market for illegal immigration engenders an industry trading in the trafficking of people. These poor folk, victims of circumstance, then expose themselves to risks such as being crowded into a shipping container, or onto an unsafe vessel. Many thousands, sadly, have perished in the attempt. It is for the governments and people of the developed nations to act to stop the atrocities, by willingly sharing the wealth of their natures and freedoms as much as of their banks.
Illegal immigration is bad. For illegal immigrants, their families. And for us. It is now for us to act to stop it.
