Cooking uses and healing properties of sage

Sage is a rather common herb which can be used in many culinary dishes. It has a very strong flavor and should not be overused. It also has medicinal properties as follows.

Healing Uses of Sage

Stimulates the central nervous system and digestive tract.

Has iatrogenic effects on the body.

Reduces sweating and salivation.

Good for hot flashes and other symptoms of estrogen deficiency whether from hysterectomy or menopause.

Beneficial for disorders affecting the throat and mouth like tonsillitis.

In tea form can be used as hair rinse to darken hair, I have put it in my shampoo and this works.

Used to dry up mothers milk when women wish to stop nursing.

Precautions

Can interfere with iron absorption when taken internally.

Will dry up a nursing mothers milk.

Should not be taken during pregnancy.

Do not take if you have a seizure disorder.
