Layoffs: Considering an alternate offer at the same company

If you have been happy and quite settled in your job and have just become aware that you are going to be lay-ed off, but they offered you another position within the same company, the best option would be to take the them up on their offer.
See how it goes, if you don't like it, you could always look for another job elsewhere, but still be in employment which will keep you going till you do find alternative employment.

If the salary is as good as in your previous position, you have nothing to lose,
also you might be able to gain more experience for the future if it is something you haven't done before. Don't just give up if you get the opportunity of another job offer in the same company go for it, it also looks better on your C.V, if you got lay-ed off from that position in the future. It shows you are willing and loyal to your employer.

Another thing to consider is, do you have a family to provide for, if so then again it is the best option. Think about not only your needs but those of your family and loved ones, how would you manage if you were out of work for months on end, if you gave up the offer of employment somewhere else in the company.
