It is not uncommon to hear or see ads for GPS devices in autos and phones. Who would've known that GPS devices could have so many uses. Here are some different uses of the GPS devices:

CELL PHONES: There is an emergency button that you can push on the cell phone. It will call 911 and give 911 your exact location. Emergency people can find you even if you do not know where you are.

HIKING: You can "mark" your entry spot of a hike and save it on the GPS device. You can then hike all around the woods. At the end of the hike, you can pull up the spot you started and follow the GPS back to the entrance.

EMERGENCY LOCATION IN CARS: You can have an emergency in the car such as a break down. Instead of giving the operator your mile marker and lane direction, they can see the exact location using the GPS device in your car. Emergency people can reach you easier because they know exactly where you are located.

BOATING: Many people get lost while boating. Now you can use the GPS for directions on a boat. You can also follow it by saving spots along the way.

FISHING: Ever found that perfect fishing spot to later never find it again? With the hand-held GPS device you can "mark" your spot. You save it in the hand-held GPS device. The next time you go fishing, you follow the directions on the GPS to the exact spot that you were at earlier!

TRACKING TEENS: Some people put GPS devices that record trips in their cars. These are used to track where teens or other family members have travelled. If you have the detective side of you, these are very handy to have.

PICNIC SPOTS: Have you ever found the perfect spot in the woods or on a hiking trail for a picnic? Later, you want to go back to it. Do you wonder around aimlessly and end up settling for a different spot? With the GPS devices you can mark your picnic spot and come back to it days, weeks or even years later.

LANDMARKS: Many people share popular landmarks and historical sites with GPS location addresses. These landmarks would be hard to tell the other person a street address to go to. They can give friends and family a GPS address and the other person can use their GPS to find the landmark or historical site.

SCOUTING: The Scouts often use GPS devices to teach navigation and compass usage. It is also a great way to teach Scouts about hiking safety and how not to get lost in the woods.

GEOCACHING: GPS devices have become so affordable that a global sport has been developed called Geocaching. Players hide and find treasure boxes based
