I was let go of my last job. Never did I suspect that my employment was going to end so abruptly. As angered as I was....what would I put on my resume. Thoughts of doomed overwhelmed me. Remembering what I knew...an employer can only reply to four questions, five if needed. An employer can state the following:
1. Job title.
2. Description of job performed.
3. Dates of employment.
4. Last rate of pay.
5. If needed, refer individual to a court case, but last employer does not have the legal right to state specifics.
On that note...I would write on an application the reason why I quit was as follows:
1. Employment was slow.
2. Needed a change.
3. Pursue a lifetime passion.
4. Engage in school.
Being fired is not the end of the world and is not as detrimental as one may think on a resume. Knowing legal rights of what an employer is able to say may make the situation less stressful.
