You think you were fired because of your age? This is a form of discrimination in the work place. There are several things that you can do for this situation.
The first thing to do is to ask your boss straight up if you were fired because of age. You can ask if there are other positions within the company that would be better suited for your skills and talents. Perhaps the boss will reconsider firing you knowing that you are willing to take a different position.
Talk to human resources in your company. Let them know that you think that you were discriminated against because of age. Hopefully, they will work with you and have your position re-instated.
You will need to talk to the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission. There should be a number in the government section of your phone book. Give them a call and set up an appointment.
Write down the things that make you think that the firing was discrimination based. Write down specific instances and dates as well as you can remember them. You want to do this immediately after you get home so that things stay fresh in your mind.
You can also look up the AARP chapter in your phone book. The AARP will more then likely be able to refer you to local resources to help you with your case.
If you think that you were let go because of your age talk to the boss that fired you. Discuss other positions within the company. Talk to the human resources department of the company. Seek out the help of the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission and AARP by looking up numbers in the phone book. Being let go because of age is a form of discrimination firings.
