This happens to a lot of us. You are up late working on something important and then you notice it. Light. Where did that come form? How did I end up working this late? You are not exactly tired but now you know it is coming, but you still have so much more to do... Sleep is going to have to wait. But how do you do it?
Not to worry. There are a few tricks that will help you overcome that sleepiness that is going to come up as you make way into the next day of a hard night working....
I think setting up a reward system is vital. You are going to need reinforcements when dealing with an enemy as powerful as sleep, and who better than your trusty and beloved habits? Some food a few hours in, a shower a few hours after that... whatever works for you, but you get the picture.
Also, cold water helps. Splash it on your face or take a brief cold shower and let it re-energize you. In yoga it is thought to have a invigorating effect and upon testing the theory out it is easy to see where it comes from.
And above all, just remember-the sleep is going to feel even better the longer you put it off.
