SOMALIA: HUMMANITARIAN DISASTER
The mass murder, rampant slaughter of innocent Somalis, the displacement of more than 100 thousand people and the campaign to wipe out whole Mogadishu neighborhoods is comparable to the Darfur Genocide. We perceive the Somali version of the Janjaweed as the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) supported militia from Puntland belonging to the President's clan, numbering 4000, camped in Villa Somalia and the Military academy that are intentionally shelling and targeting heavy artillery into neighborhoods populated by rival clans. This is a calculated clannish vengeance that the international community is unfortunately condoning.
The surge and re-enforcement of 20,000 Ethiopians troops with their tanks and armored trucks that have already crossed the border towns of Belet-Weyne and Wajid all heading to Mogadishu. There are already more than 25,000 Ethiopian troops now occupying Somalia. There are an estimated 20,000 Ethiopian forces in and around Mogadishu.
In violation of the Arms Embargo on Somalia, the United States and its mercenary, the minority regime in Ethiopia led by the deceptive, street smart Prime Minister Meles Zenawi financed and supported a coalition of warlords calling themselves the Alliance for the Restoration of Peace and Counter-Terrorism (ARPCT). The warring warlords, the violence and chaos that ensued, prevented the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia from establishing the TFG in Mogadishu in line with the Transitional Federal Charter of Somalia. After remaining in Kenya since its formation in 2004, the TFG relocated to Somalia in February 2006, straddled between Jowhar and Baidoa but unable to assert its power in Mogadishu.
Its time to re-examination of the U.S. support of the warlord infested Transitional Federal Government in Somalia could easily alleviate the magnitude of the mass killings in Mogadishu. The United States must not allow Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia and his forces to continued massacring civilians in Mogadishu and their planned "wiping out entire neighborhoods". This military madness and surge does not make sense. The pretext of using "terrorist card and/or Islamist insurgence "and labeling a whole community because they oppose the invasion of Ethiopia and the clannish enterprise of the TFG Leadership is not a license to conduct genocide.
The US State Department continues to deny the crimes committed by the minority regime in Ethiopia and has given its staff explicit direction to mislead and misinform the American public about the war in Somalia. It has also prevented US lawmakers from taking any punitive actions against the regime for its gross human rights violations and violations of international law.
As for Washington lawmakers, it is time to put an end to Washington's Islam phobic, condescending, incoherent, racist and provocative attitude and policies for Africa and its continued financial, diplomatic, military and political support and shield for Meles Zenawi's lawless, belligerent minority regime, which believes "might is right" and in the primacy of the law of the jungle over the rule of law, as it violates international law, massacres innocent Ethiopians and Somalis in cold blood, and violates the sovereignty and territorial integrity of neighboring states.
Ethiopian President Meles Zenawi, Intern President of Somalia Abdulahi Yusuf and his Intern Prime Minter Ali Mohammed Ghedi have undermined America's reputation and credibility in the Horn of Africa. The "global war on terror" cannot be used as a pretext for violation of state sovereignty, indiscriminate bombings and pulverization of villages, and the massacre of innocent civilians.
