Sleeping pills: A prescription for better sleep?

Everyone wants better sleep at night. Some of us would just plain like to get any sleep at night on some occasions. Insomnia is a difficult and trying problem for people. Sleeping pills are a solution that many feel is a prescription for better sleep.

On the short term, sleeping pills can help you get the rest you need. Sometimes there are things going on in our lives that keep us from resting well. On these occasions being able to use sleeping pills will help you fall asleep faster and often stay asleep longer. For the short term, sleeping pills can be a prescription for better sleep.

On the long use, sleeping pills can rob you of good rest. People can become dependent on sleeping pills to fall asleep. Your body sleeps in stages. The first stage of sleep is skipped if you use sleeping pills. Your body needs this first stage to completely rest at night.

Talk to your health care provider if you have insomnia or temporary problems regarding sleep. There are many ways to relax and get through the insomnia instead of sleeping pills. You might only need sleeping pills for a brief time period to help you through the rough time. Find out what works best for your with the help of your health care provider.
