It was my husband's 20-year reunion and the worst day of my life.
From the moment we entered the Embassy's ballroom everything went wrong. As my husband and I entered the dining area, we saw some of our friends waving to us. Heading towards our group of friends my husband accidentally stepped on the back of my beautiful black gown and ripped it. Of course, no one noticed that his shoe print was planted on the back of my dress; because the tear in the dress made it look like it had an ironed crease running through it.
For dinner, we joined about eight of our friends. Sure enough, someone knocked over my red wine. Even though the Merlot glass and wine both spilled onto my lap, no one could tell, the wine simply blended with the dress.
Later that night we decided to dance and while my husband and I was dancing to our favorite 80's song. This girl takes off her 1980's jacket, you know the style of jacket that came with Velcro shouldered pads and big brass gold buttons. As we were dancing this girl decides to swing this jacket around and around to the B52'S Love Shack Song. All of a sudden, one of her big gold buttons from her jack struck my nose. This gold bottom hit my nose like a bull eye and right on the top part of the bone. I mean this button went right between my eyes. I was like that seen with Marsha Brady. "OH MY NOSE" I thought I just got hit when all of sudden my husband said, "OH my God you bleeding" I was like, yeah right. Then one second after I felt something drip off my nose. It was the worst; I could not believe this night was happening. I had a torn dress that smelt like wine and a bloody nose. I remember thinking to myself what else can go wrong.
After putting ice on my nose, the bleeding stopped. My husband and I deeded to go back to the dance floor. We danced the rest of the night and had a great time. We were going to dance and got up but then we decided not to dance the last song. Just as I was about to sit, my husband decided to be a man and push in my seat for me. Instead what he did was he moved the chair and my foot in my high heal shoes were stuck under the leg of his chair.
Therefore, he sat down and the leg of the chair smashed into the top part of my foot. Oh, the pain that I felt now, well it was unbearable. The night finally ended. My husband felt so bad that he made up for it the next night and for week after that. As for my bruised foot, it healed and swollen nose, it mended. As, for my dress, well the tear tore bigger.
As for my husband, he bought me a new dress and nicer than the first one.
Too bad a new reunion day was not on the forsake rack, because that day was the worst and one I will never forget. I got the scars to prove it too.
