Testimonies about oxycontin: The dangers and the myths

limit. I was watching my 3 year old niece at the time(actually Sam's niece, but I love her like she was my own). Sam and I had run out and wanted/needed more pills to snort up our nose. Sam left to get more. Our neighbor and her daughter came over and invited my niece to come over and play (thank god in heaven for that), and my niece left. The next thing I remember is a bright light and loud sirens, I was in an ambulance.

Here is what happened between my niece leaving and me waking up in an ambulance. I had overdosed on my way up the stairs in my house. Sam came home and saw me laying on the steps purple and barley breathing. He called 911, pulled me down the steps by the door so I could get air, did a pill, then stayed with me till the ambulance came. I was not angry with him for that by the way cause I would have done the same thing at that point in my life. The ambulance came and put me in the truck, then gave me a shot of some type to bring me back. The ambulance people told Sam that when they got there I was only taking 6 breaths a minute, I think but am not sure that you should take 80 breaths per minute. I can't remember what they told me. They also said if they would have arrived at my house five minutes later, I would have died. Now in my opinion this is a good enough story to begin wrapping up, but then it wouldn't be my story.
While in the emergency room, with Iv's in me and doctors and nurses all over, I just layed there kind of in shock and not really knowing what was going on. Sam tried to explain it to me but even after the "sober shot" as I call it, I was still "high". After being asked a million questions like "do you know how much you took?" and "were you attempting to commit suicide?" a nurse came in to help me get dressed and discharge me. Before she helped me up she told me I was pregnant, about four months pregnant. I started balling crying that instant. All I kept saying was "oh god I hurt my baby". What you don't know yet is after puberty all I was ever told was I couldn't get pregnant naturally, I needed fertility drugs. Also my whole life all I wanted to do was be a mother and raise a family. If I ever though for a minute that i could get pregnant, I would have used protection of some type. Obviously I was not at a point in my life to have a baby.
I went home that night and made a decision, I was NOT going to do anymore drugs. I spent the next five months in agony, praying constantly that my baby would be ok, and healthy, and despite
