The primary reason for adultery among women is the failing of husbands to maintain a romance factor within the relationship. Once that begins to fail, the marriage falls apart even though the couple remains together. The old adage that states if something is missing at home, then one will go elsewhere to find it tends to hold true even for married women. It is important to note that women are spoon-fed from infancy stories of fairytales with princesses rescued by white knights and princes followed by adventures until finally having a large wedding where we are left with the disillusion of how it is possible to, "live happily ever after." The truth is that happily ever after does not exist though as women we still attempt to find it. All women want the fairytale. Somehow, we cannot accept that marriage is messy, requires compromise, and eventually, given enough time, becomes mundane.

One has to wonder if the author of Cinderella had not stopped at happily ever after how the story would end. I can imagine Cinderella and Prince Charming after 10+ years of marriage. Prince Charming is now King Charming and Cinderella is now queen. Prince Charming Jr. and Princess Cindy are old enough to spend time with their friends, leaving little to no time with Cinderella. Now, Cinderella is busy cleaning the castle, running errands, preparing meals, and feeling left out and alone. King Charming goes out on the weekends to polo matches, fox hunts, and jousting matches then goes to the pub with the guys until all hours of the night to boast about the day's events. He forgets to do the little special things he did for Cinderella during the honeymoon years. Gone are the days of holding hands or whispering sweet nothings in each other's ears. Gone are the times when he would slip away from work to have a candle-lit dinner and beautiful night making love to his wife as if she were the most beautiful woman in the world. This type of life and lacking of emotional commitment is something women cannot help but understand. It is obvious why Cinderella is having an affair with one of the private guards who found his way into her heart by telling her how beautiful she is in a new gown and how amazing she looks in her new hairstyle.

Cheating on a spouse is not right regardless of who is doing the cheating. It has the propensity to destroy lives if the truth finds its way home. However, it is important to take note of the fact that women do not live in a vacuum. Things are different for women
