There are probably more options than I can think of or know of. The first that springs to mind and most readers probably know of this is : E-FAX. I have a free account so I am limited to what I can send and where to, however, I can receive faxes from abroad to this number which my other fax account - I will discuss in a moment - does not allow.

The online fax facility I use is with my broadband provider TISCALI here in the UK, so sorry to those of you who cannot get this service in your locations. When I signed up for the Broadband and call package (again excellent) I got free email addresses, a free number which serves as a voice mail and fax facility.

Now, faxes can be sent just about anywhere. Personally, I have only sent faxes within the UK, to France, Spain and Portugal as yet. However, anyone trying to send me a fax cannot achieve this but that's where E-FAX comes in - voilá!

I do have to buy credit for the sending faxes with Tiscali but this only costs 10p per page, so it definitely saves on the cost of BUYING a fax maching and the associated costs.
