The cyst is the deepest inflammation of all acne types and causes severe scarring.
Acne scars range from deep pits to scars that are angular and wavelike in appearance
Acne is defined as a disorder resulting from the action of hormone and other substances on the skin's oil and hair follicles. Hair follicles and sebaceous glands share a common canal and when the pores become clogged, an outbreak of lesions on the skin occurs. Scarring may be either light or severe with deepest scars coming from the acne cyst.
Treatment for acne scars include the following:
Dermabrasion; for shallow imperfections.
Laser resurfacing; shallow imperfections.
Chemical peels; mild scarring
Punch techniques; for "ice pick" scars
Subcision; for most kinds of scars
Augmentation; for deeper scars
Deep scarring from acne can bring about emotional distress in the lives of those who have them. New research and technology have aided people greatly by developing new ways to treat the disease and reduce the scarring.
