RC airplane reviews: Parkflyers Cessna 182

While many hobbyists have built model airplanes throughout the years, radio-controlled technology has allowed for the remote piloting of scaled model aircraft. Parkflyers is among one of the leading model aircraft manufacturers and recently released a new product: the Parkflyers Cessna 182.

Although Parkflyers marketed their new semi-scale remote-controlled model of the Cessna 182 as being complete and ready to fly out of the box; this is far from being true. In fact, the model/ toy would have been more truthfully advertised as a kit. The kit comes with glue for mounting the tail features and the Styrofoam one-piece wing. While the airplane is certainly more complete than any true model kit, the unattached wings and lack of batteries supplied make the Cessna 182 far from ready to fly.

Geared for a target audience of hobbyists twelve-years-old and older, the Parkflyers Cessna 182 requires lots of patience to get up and running. For one, four to six hours will be required before the glue for the stabilizer and the wings dries; not to mention the additional four hours to charge the flight battery.

Overall, if you're antsy to get your hands on the controls and get the Cessna 182 into the air, this model may not be for you; not to mention the fact that you'll ahve to pay close to $200 for an incomplete r/c airplane. Another major drawback, in my opinion, is its lack of stability in stronger winds. In fact, you'll need more than just a clear day to give this baby a whirl; you'll also need an environment completely devoid of wind, so good luck with that!
