Herbal and legal highs

by sTriver

In the modern society of hard drug use and teens using marijuana, there are some "drugs" that go under the radar of the government, parents, and even many teens. Many teens, who may or may not use marijuana (but more often do use it), are trying alternatives to marijuana use. Some common alternatives are DXM, which is sold in many OTC cough syrups, salvia, and, unfortunately, meth. This experimentation costs some their lives, while others research and understand that there is power in the chemicals they put into their bodies and therefore give each chemical a large amount of respect. It is extremely important for anyone to research what chemicals are being put into their body, whether it is caffeine, cough syrup, or marijuana. No one person can say just how another will react to a given chemical. We are all made up differently and every chemical is different for every person.

If one were to do a google search on "herbal highs" they would find an enormous amount of info and places to buy such highs. Many of the common herbal (and legal) highs are as such:

-Salvia Divinorum, Hawaiian Baby Woodrose, Blue Lotus (Nymphaea caerulea), White Lotus, Yellow Lotus, Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria), Chacruna (Psychotria viridis), Jurema (Mimosa hostilis), Ourinhos (Banisteriopsis caapi), San Pedro/Peruvian Torch (Trichocereus peruvianus), Virgin Seeds (Rivea corymbosa), Yopo (Anadenanthera colubrina), Yellow Horizon, Lion's Tail, Prickly Poppy, Kratom, Skull Cap, Valeriana roots, Damiana, Kola Nuts, Yohimbe, Maca Root, and Morning Glory.-

There are even new "packaged highs." These come in capsule form and are mixtures of the herbs and seeds listed above. In Europe, they are being used as a way to stop illegal drug use by providing teens an equal alternative. The herbs listed above are quite often easily found in a greenhouse or across the continental USA and of course on the internet. They are readily available packaged nicely in gram and half-gram bags and tubes. On some web sites, they come already rolled into joints.

These chemicals are hallucinogens, stimulants, sedatives, and euphoriants. Teens are using them to get high, to party, to relax, and to sleep better. Most likely, with occasional or moderate usage, no problems will arise in the use of these herbal highs. Compared to common dogma, these herbs are not stepping stones to harder drugs. In nearly all cases, when teens turn to these herbal highs, they are keeping themselves from the hard drugs by choice and they really are safe alternatives to illegal highs.
